James Finamore (b. 1990) is an American composer, pianist, kotoist, and Stage Manager for the Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra. His music draws inspiration from various sources around the world, including western art music, traditional Japanese, African poly-rhythms, metal, and jazz fusion. He was the winner of the 2019 Dolce Hogaku Ensemble International Composition Competition. Performers of his music include Dolce Hogaku Ensemble (ドルチェ邦楽合奏団), Duo YUMENO (夢乃), the Contemporary Music Ensemble at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, and renowned virtuosi Seizan Sakata (shakuhachi), Yang Jing (pipa), and Gamin (piri). Finamore received his A.A. in Music from Palomar College located in southern California, and received his Bachelors of Music and Masters of Music from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
